Great Material! Great Presentation

by Wes Neill

The material is straightforward, useful and realistic.
I love the analytical way in which the course is presented.
The novel approach used to present the course content was useful in causing me to think about fighting/self protection more systematically but yet still keeping it free flowing. I highly recommend this course!

I was honoured to be Harry’s training partner in this course and being able to train it live gave me a deep understanding of the material quickly. I like the “simplicity” of the techniques and concepts that is taught in this course. Don’t get me wrong, “simple” does not mean ineffective and once you get an opportunity to train this course with a partner, you can feel the effectiveness of the techniques, even when pressure tested. I also like that Harry is not trying to sell you miracle techniques. He cuts to the chase (pun intended) and explains that the chances of surviving a knife attack are slim but having a framework for survival might just give you an edge (pun intended). If you ask me, I would rather have that extra chance (no matter how small) of survival. Go train!

Harry’s course is full of value! Not only does he explain each step and terminology in a simple manner, he breaks down each module in a way that one could easily visualize and follow how a technique is properly done. If this is how much information his free course can give, what more could his paid course provide. Looking forward to learning from your full course!

I love FightDad courses. For many reasons. First, because I think Harry and I have a very similar mindset. In essence, the main thing is to enjoy martial arts, training, progressing, making good friends ... no ranks, politics nor associations. Second, Harry knows what he’s doing. Harry has a great teaching ability and he is a great martial artist. I bought his other courses and it helped me to clarify lot of concepts and techniques in a clear and easy way. But this one about double stick is even better. I’m not very good with weapons yet. At least, as good as I would like. But this course is an excellent tool for improving. It’s a good investment for any serious martial artist. Thank you very much Harry for your job. Please, go ahead with it.

I joined this course in the original "beta" version, Challenge January, and it was a great start of the year and restart after months of too little activity due to covid-shutdowns. It was pretty perfect - the course is structured so that you can both feel and measure your progress, yet it's short and sweet enough that it's not a chore to do the daily exercises. Coupled with a neat set of mental exercises, it's perfect for someone who needs to set themselves a little challenge to get started getting fit - or to restart themselves after a period of inactivity.

Your Instructor

My name is Harry and I've been coaching Filipino Martial Arts (FMA, Kali, Arnis, Escrima) for more than ten years.

I hold multiple black belts and am an award winning FMA coach.

And I want to use all this knowledge to help YOU and your students improve your lives.

Over the years I've learned a lot of techniques which CLAIM to be "Knife Defence"...

And it's been a lot of fun!

But whenever I tried to make them work against my training partners...

...I found they were too complicated, and relied on my attacker complying!

Not likely.

I came to the realisation that it was more important to develop a training methodology which is based on attacker mindset, and likely approaches, set ups, actions, and re-actions...

But also to have appropriate GOALS for both attacker (to take your property, body or life) and defender (to escape or resolve the situation).

Next is having a simple but powerful way to train each micro-element of the scenario efficiently, AND link it to what logically comes before, and what logically comes afterwards...

And the Loop-Based method was born!

Knife Defence flow chart with techniques and connections between them

✅ Each circle contains a technique

✅ Each arrow is a connection to another technique

✅ A Loop is when cycle between two or more techniques, OR reach a resolution!

✅ But the beauty of the method is you can insert ANY range-appropriate technique into a circle and test it in a Loop...

I've tested (a lot) the simplest technical responses which moves the defender towards the goal, and this course applies the method to Knife Defence.

And now I want to share that with you.

On a personal note, this course includes a particular technique which I believe has saved my life.

It's simple, but effective.

My hope is that you never have to face a knife, but that, if you do, you have the best (or should I say "least-worst"?) chances available to you.

Even with all the training in the world it can still go wrong.

Take care, train hard, stay safe, and live well

Harry Flexman
