Solo Stick Drills for Beginners

No training partner necessary!

Single Stick is one of the core areas of Filipino Martial Arts.

It can get very deep and complicated, with many fancy looking techniques and sequences.

These are great fun to learn, and a good challenge to own and master! BUT, without solid foundations, will be very hard to make work.

With this course, my aim is to show you the fundamentals, in a way that is quick and simple to learn.

These will help you be at the right place, at the right time, to make the complex stuff work!

When you have completed this course, you will have learned:

  • Three methods of power striking.
  • The Simple Angle System.
  • Angular, linear and falling footwork.
  • Lightning fast hand defence.
  • The Simple Combination Builder.
  • Six Levels of Stick Shadow Boxing for focussed progression.

What's more, although it only takes 15 - 20 minutes to learn all these drills, together they can form millions (yep, I worked it out) of different combinations to keep training fresh and fun!

As an somewhat experienced FMA artist, I still get value from this short course. It explains some very important clues to how to handle a stick in a fight. Also the body mechanic is an important part of this class. And it is also easily explained. Absolutely recommended for both new and seasoned FMA warriors👍

This was a great intro into sticks. Super clear instructions and visuals. Particularly found the front and side views useful. I also appreciated that some of the finer details (grip, posture etc.) were kept separate so that I could get stuck in and have a go. Presentation is spot on - clear, informative without waffle and personable. I like how every move has a clear application explained - no ‘why am I doing this?’ moments. Pretty fab, thank you 👍🏻
